Well, these changes is a direct answer to the Google's Project which you know by the name G+ (Google Plus) or say it as direct attack on Google+ Circles (you will understand this if you are using G+ too).
Google Plus – Google’s take on Facebook that nearly everyone I know signed up for and nobody seems to use.
So this let Facebook to make changes to bigger amount for the ease of the users and also answers to competitor (G+ and twitter) in the digital changing world.

Here are the Top 10 things you should know. |
From this week, it will be easier than ever to see more from the people you care about and simpler to share with exactly the right people using Friend Lists.Want to see posts from your closest friends? Or perhaps you'd like to share a personal story with your family—without also telling all your co-workers.
To make lists incredibly easy and even more useful, we have these lists auto created according your profile.
1. Smart lists - You'll see smart lists that create themselves and stay up-to-date based on profile info your friends have in common with you--like your work, school, family and city.
2. Close Friends and Acquaintances lists - You can see your best friends' photos and posts in one place, and see less from people you're not as close to.
3. Restricted - Friends who can only see posts and profile info. which you make public
Smart Lists ( For Example List - below)
Managing lists is boring. That's why smart lists do the work for you. To start, facebook offer you smart lists for:
Work School Family City
4. Better suggestions (see below snapshot)- You can add the right friends to your lists without a lot of effort.
Friend Lists are completely optional. If you don't like lists, you don't have to use them.
Using Lists very easy and subscribing to any type of update which you can arranging easily and frequently with less efforts. (below snapshot)
5. Choose What You See in News Feed
You're already getting your friends' posts in News Feed. With the Subscribed button, you can choose how much you see from them:
- All updates: Everything your friend posts
- Most updates: The amount you'd normally see
- Important updates only: Just highlights, like a new job or move
In the next few days, you'll start seeing this button on friends' and others' profiles.
6. Subscribe Button (This is what I call direct hit to the Google Plus )
The Subscribe button also lets you hear from interesting people you're not friends with—like journalists, artists and political figures.
If you see a Subscribe button on your favorite blogger's profile, this means you can subscribe. Just click the button to get their public updates right in your News Feed.
7. Get Your Own Subscribers
To let people subscribe, go to the Subscriptions Page and click Allow Subscribers.
Once you allow subscribers, you can decide who can comment and what notifications you get. You'll also see a Subscribers tab on your profile, where you can see who subscribes to you.
8. Universal Feed Hide
I think it’s great the Facebook’s new settings let me control the information I see from my Close Friend or Acquaintance, but here’s the thing – I don’t want a notification when anyone is "Now Friends" with 50 other people, or changes their profile picture, or decides to "like" Twinkies. Let me shut off a type of post, not just a type from the individual.

First, let me add that Facebook still allows users to create their own lists (and keep existing ones) - as many or as few as one chooses. What they mean with Acquaintances and Close Friends is a one-stop way to quickly sort your audience.
Good news! You don’t get emails on Facebook unless you ask for them. So now when you congratulate someone on their new baby you don’t have to spend the next two days deleting out other people’s congratulatory notifications. This change is good. I accept.
